He grew up in the kitsune village of Viagi far from the lands in which he now lives, with his parents and six siblings--three brothers and three sisters. His life was peaceful, learning the bow and staff and sling from his father, who one day promised to teach him the treasured art of swordplay, but only in defense--the Viagi kitsune were pacifists at heart, much like Tinkers.

Then disaster struck. Human soldiers decimated the village and massacred all the inhabitants. Kenshen saw his parents and siblings murdered, and many atrocities which should not be spoken in public. Suffice it to say that the horror of that day was imprinted upon him so badly, that it washed his memory clean.

He wandered for months, stealing and scrounging out a life as he could, until at last the came to the Stone Altar Tavarn and Inn. There, he finally remembered and was able to deal with the deaths of his parents and family. Within him, however, burns the seeds of vengeance, and when old enough, he plans to avenge the massacre of Viagi--whence he has taken his surname--and bring back honor to his Clan.
